Topic: Very Slow Printing

I am experiencing very slow printing.  I am trying to print an stl that took only 4 hours before and has taken 14 so far and is only half done.  The printer doesn't sound the same either, well it just sounds the same but much slower.  It started off printing at normal speed, but when i woke up this morning and it was only half done it was going very slow.

  I am printing with the lid propped open on the door. I have reversed the extruder fan.  No mods other than that.

  Anyone else experienced this?  Attached are the original stl, the generated stl,the g-code and the log file as of half an hour ago.

I have logging turned on to create a log for an open ticket with solidoodle, I wonder if the large logging is causing the issue. getting too hard to handle as it gets larger.

The speed of printing is generally controlled by the software. The printer just does whatever it is told to do, and it has no issues smashing into the printer walls, your print, etc. without stopping!

Which software are you using, and what settings do you have there? If you're using Repetier Host, it's easy to accidentally turn down feedrate or flowrate in a way that would increase print time.

I was printing with Soliprint.  I am pretty sure now it was the logging.  I do software and I know if you aren't logging asynchronously and are using write instead of append commands the larger the log file gets the longer it takes to write, and if you are logging each thing and doing it synchronously that makes each command take progressively longer.

  Unfortunately I can't verify this because now I can't get the filament to feed correctly.

Also, check in Slice3r if cooling is checked, if it is, the software will slow the print down to ensure proper cooling before returning to print in that area again.  Just uncheck it, and control your speed yourself by adjusting the flowrate in Repetier.
