You don't have to use a stock motherboard. Hardware wise it is just a standard type A printer. Any motherboard will work on it. A Ramps is only 60 bucks and gives you far more freedom than the stock board. Also once you get away from stock the machine is very reliable and prints as good as a 2500 dollar Makerbot. For the price it is amazing machine.
.
Thank you for your help I sort of figured what is happening, so I fixed the r271 resistor bridge again, as this is what seemed to have caused the initial issue when i purchased the machine (after only two prints)
Now it seems as though the connector where the thermistor connects to is the issue here, it started printing then got jiggled around a bit and the same "def" error appeared. I took the head out and moved the connector back into place etc and it worked.
Now after owning the machine for less than 2 months i am frustrated because i have had to go through so much to change the parts and have had no help from the company where i purchased the item for 700 australian dollars
So yeah Carl you're right I am running out of patience, be that as it may I am keen to learn and do have the patience to deal with this kind of thing, I had hoped to at least get more than two prints out of my first 3d printer before it stuffed up.
Would you be able to elaborate on how I can change the motherboard to one of the ones you spoke about.
Furthermore I wish to possibly change the extruder to an e3d kind, if someone wants to do this for me and I pay them that would be great, or if someone can give me some guidelines with benefits etc, it seems as though this printer may be great for some, but not necessarily for all, and although the parts are available, due to being in Oz and not having these readily available, they can end up being very expensive.
Hence why I want to go e3d, but have no idea how to go about this and mounting etc, connectors the lot.
Thanks in advance.
