Topic: Largest build on a DaVinci XYZ printer

The DaVinci specifications state a build printing area of 200 x 200 x 200 mm. (7.8"x 7.8"x 7.8" approx.)

It made me wonder what the largest build anyone has done on the DaVinci printer, both in terms of file size and physical size.

Has anyone succeeded with a close to 200 x 200 x 200 mm build?

Re: Largest build on a DaVinci XYZ printer

I made two items - both about 7.5" x 7.5" x 5.0" without problems.  It did take a long, long time.
One of the items is on my Harley - photo attached.

In terms of file size - I designed several parts with knurled handles and features that resulted in file sizes of 90 meg.  Simplify3D had problems with large files sizes (not uploading well).  However, I solved that problem by increasing the Simplify3D cache size, the communication timeout and baud rate.

Later, I changed the .stl output in Solidworks to make smaller files - still good parts and 80Meg files are now about 3meg.

I printed a Firefly ship and it barely fit.

Oh wait I think it was about 7 separate pieces and had to be assembled.

LOL haha

I made the Tassimo cartridge holder on Thingiverse.
Can't remeber the exact height but it wasn't far of the max 200mm.
