Topic: Hello All!

Didn't see an "Introduce yourself" sticky anywhere, but I just wanted to say Hello! and I'm really glad I found this forum.

I've ordered a Solidoodle 2 with the heated bed last month. It hasn't shipped yet, but according to the shipping posts around here mine should be *really soon*

A little about myself: I have an EE background and am familiar with motors, microcontrollers, etc. ... i'm sure I could have bought a kit or made my own (but laziness prevailed). I'm also very familiar with AVR microcontrollers (which is what Arduino uses, which Solidoodle uses) and also a Linux guy at heart (but Windows for gaming). I hope this will turn into a very fruitful hobby.

I've ordered some ABS filament, some tape, some tools, and gotten familiar with the software (repetier, pronterface, slic3r, sketchup, etc.) All I need now is the printer and to learn some CAD.

Things I plan to make: At first, basic things just to get familiar with the device but eventually RC cars, quad copters, and other random junk. And eventually, hopefully rather quickly, move onto 0.1mm prints.

Re: Hello All!

Welcome!  You'll love the community here. There is an intro section here.

I will be posting a thorough and extended write up on the project I am completing here. It got delayed due to the unfulfilled donations from aeroquad, but it finally got here this week!  So I can finally finish my transformable quadcopter.
