Topic: Colorfabb Glowfill

Just tried my first print with Glowfill from the Colorfabb sample pack and thought I'd post up a couple of pics.
It's basically glow-in-the-dark PLA and I was expecting the stock extruder to struggle a bit but it actually printed really well first try.

Re: Colorfabb Glowfill

Nice !
So you printed it with the stock extruder, good to read.
Do you have a fan on it ?
Could you please share your temperatures and speed setting ?
Thanks and good job.

Re: Colorfabb Glowfill

No additional fan but I did mod the bracket for the extruder fan by bending it outwards slightly so that it's not blocking the air flow to the heatsink. I also covered the gaps at the sides of the fan with kapton tape. I think this might be helping reduce heat creep.
Temps are just the stock 90C for the bed and 210C for extruder. Speed was 25mm/s.
This stuff seems easier to work with than other PLA I've tried, maybe because it's better quality.

Thanks,
I searched a bit and you possibly use this ; http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:623274
Do You make your fan to vacuum hot air from the nozzle as suggested ?

Re: Colorfabb Glowfill

Yeah, I'm using a crude version of that shroud. I'll probably end up printing it though.
My fan is blowing on the extruder. I tried the other way round but it made no difference.
I think the key is focusing cooling around the heatsink and the extruder barrel just above the nozzle.
I've also been trying Colorfabb XT (clear) but no luck getting it to print properly so far.

Re: Colorfabb Glowfill

Finally managed a print with Colorfabb XT using the mod described here ... http://www.soliforum.com/post/90269/#p90269
