Topic: Using a spool of filament with da Vinci 1.0

I've got a da Vinci 1.0, and one of my print cartages is almost empty. I decided to try and have the chip to use a 1kg spool. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how many meters of filament is on a 1kg spool? I contacted the company I bought the spool from, but they had no clue.

It should be roughly 300m. The standard 600g roll in a XYZ cart is 240m. Rough math at best smile

Pretty close. GOOGLE says 330m for 1.75 filament.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: Using a spool of filament with da Vinci 1.0

It's simple math...
First approach is simply linear, as follows:
240m / 600gr  = Length /  1000gr
Therefore,
Length = 400m

The real math, as follows:
Density = Mass / Volume
ABS density = 1.05 kg/m3
For a filament of 1.75mm diameter,

Volume = Mass / Density = 1kg/1.05kg/m3  = 0.9524 m3 (952.4mm)
Volume also equals Area times Length,
Therefore,
Length = 952.4mm * 4 /pi/(1.75mm)2
Length = 396m  (compared to 400m from linear approach)

This compares well with actual amount...
