Topic: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

Hey guys, so this is the second day I have my printer, yesterday I did a simple test of a sample built and it worked perfectly, today I was going to change the filament but once I clicked unload filament I get this weird noise and it won't remove.

Anyone that can help me?

I do not have a DaVinci, but it seems to me that your hot end was not hot enough at 130c.  This was probably causing your drive gear to slip against the filament.

Try and heat the hot end to about 10c under your normal print temp and then try the unload cycle again.

The thing is the heat is all automatic on the davinci, I should take control over that I suppose? Or should I?

I don't think it would hurt to try...if you are running ABS filament, then the 131c displayed on your LCD panel is definitely too low...

It is abs but I'm not even sure if I can change the heat

I'll look into this and try to give feedback tomorrow

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

Depending on what firmware you may have installed, there was a recent one that would not back out the filament (the stepper motor wouldn't run so you had to yank it out with force).

The latest hotfix firmware fixed the issue. If you don't want to install the current firmware, then you will have to downgrade two back (or earlier).

Win 8.1
Improved Da Vinci 1.0 with Firmware 1.2.5 and stock extruder
Arduino cartridge resetter and after-market ABS filament
TinkerCAD, Netfabb, Simplify3D

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

As mentioned in another thread, select Load Filament, then, when it starts to extrude, pull the lever and remove the filament. wink

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

Load doesn't work either...

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

I tried to pull it with some force but it's not moving an inch now I don't have the clicking sound it's making the correct sound for unloading filaments but it's still not moving

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

That sounds like your heater is not working, then. Does it heat up at all when you select Load?

When I had my jam, the clicking stopped when the gear finally wore through the filament. I had to pull the extruder, soak it in acetone, and chase it with a small drill bit.

Finally I got it out, I did the auto-heat option and then it went a little smoother. I did have to put some force though.

Re: New Printer Can't Unload Filament

Same problem all over again, just gonna send it back, davinci printers are really bad imo, it's the second one in 2 weeks time that broke... And it's not me for sure

I thought they had a hotfix for that extruder problem ....... Well when you get it back if it's working like it should I suggest sticking with that firmware. I'm still with firmware 1.1.1 and don't intend on upgrading.

Da Vinci  AiO with firmware 1.1.1 using xyzscan 1.1.18
E3Dv6 hotend with custom carriage with Borosilicate glass bed
123D Design and Simplify3D, Replaced PS with a Solidgear Flex320
Zerokart resetter,  Installed a Extruder Controller for higher temps
