Topic: Adjusted Trimpots and Now My Layers Are Shifting Badly

OK so I adjusted my trimpots to exactly 1.o, 1.0, 1.0 and 1.5 V.

They were miles out from that before, but now I have them on the "correct" voltage as supplied by Solidoodle, they're jumping about all over the place. Now.... Problem is, I didn't make a note of the original settings....

How do I work out what to reset them to?

This "consumer printer" which was "ready to print right from the box" is doing my head in now.

I would bump the pots up to 1.1 or 1.2. It sounds like they are being under driven now. That golden voltage is based on a machine that has no bind or abnormal resistance of any kind.

Actually, I just watched it more closely and realised that what is now happening is the glass bed is shifting! It's slipping forward every time the z axis moves. Is this caused by over extruding? Or should I just wedge some sort of shim under the glass bed to stop it slipping forwards?

use some stick glue along the edge or paint tape.

Thanks. For now, I raised the two rear screws under the back of the glass bed a touch just while I'm experimenting. That raises the glass just enough to stop it sliding. I'm guessing that will affect my heat transfer, but as a temporary fix it'll do for now.

Some very thin shim washers under the heat bed would do the same, without making a gap under the glass.

Managed to fix it by printing a couple of small shims which I wedged under the metal retaining strips on both sides of the glass bed. smile
