Topic: Layers shifting at the second / third layer - both axis at random

Hi,

I got my Press a couple of days ago and have had mixed success printing anything. At first the extruder was extruding very unevenly (wavy lines) but a trimpot adjustment fixed that. Now I'm having issues with almost all prints where the layers are shifting by halv a cm at random in two axis. I've watched the steppers as it happens at it doesn't seem like the issue is belt slipping - it seems like they just pause for a brief moment.

At first it looked like it was overextrusion causing the issue (extruder hanging on excess material) so I've tried playing with the multiplier (0.9 - 0.6) but no luck so far.

I'm open to any suggestions, this is driving me mad (staring angrily at it for 10 minutes didn't fix the issue either sad)

Edit: I realized "both axis" might sound like it happens to both at the same time, but it's happening for one or the other (both close together for some test prints)

Having the same issue guys, only on the Y axis.  Tightned set screws, print with top open, but still happens during a long print.  No noise, just skips.  My SD3 never had this issue.  I really don't know what to do now.  Wondering if too much voltage to Y motor could cause this due to overheating?  How about some answers Solidoodle?

Too much voltage is my suspicion aswell, the steppers seems very warm. I'll try to borrow a voltmeter to check it, or just adjusting the trimpots slightly when I get off work smile

Sorry for the late update, but after adjusting the trimpots the issue is almost gone entirely - now I only get it when printing with the lid down. I'll try to make some additional adjustments to see if I can get it to print correctly with the lid down as well. Unfortunately I don't have any way to measure the voltage they're running at now, but I'll try to borrow Something and post my settings.

My new problem now is that the auto calibration doesn't compensate for the forward sloping as well as it should, so its printing too close to the bed towards the back, and almost in the air towards the front. Seems like there's no easy way to level the bed manually hmm and the bed feels very flimsy / loose.
