Right guys been thinking.. I have been on a ultimaker the other day and much prefer the wheel instead of just buttons like on the davinci.
My question is would either of these work with the Da vinci 1.0? I know I would have to make quite big changes to fit it to the machine but willing to do it if they can

If you want to use a third party display you will need to al sd o use a third party motherboard. The board in the Da vinci uses a non standard interface for its LCD and it will not support sny of the other LCD displays out there.
I am getting ready to swap to an Azteeg X5 mini and a Viki 2 LCD from Panucatt Devices. I was just waiting till I completed my Delta which is now complete. This way I can still ptint parts if needed.
So I would need something like this then? also is it hard to swap it out? Or do you just do it how you put repiter on the one I have now?

Just found this one what comes with a colour touch screen what do people think of this one? seems okay cheap also

This one is your better option. Includes all you need but the longer ribbon cables. To reach the front of the machine to where the controller in back mounts you need 5 foot cables minimum. You will alsom need to possibly move pins around in the connectors if they are not pin to pin on the existing board.
To use Reprap Text or Graphical LCD you need to change to custom FW because the initialization is not same between screens, and no encoder support in stock, and redo the connections as SD is on main board and LCD/key pad use slim ribbon, but if you known soldering, should be not a problem.
How would I go about custom firmware?
Just looked at the one with a touch screen and it doesnt seem to have location for drivers at all
Custom FW I was talking is Repetier FW for DaVinci
Ah right I see might order this soon then and see if I can get it to work
