Topic: Can Only Print At 0.3mm

Hi all.

I'm completely new to 3D printing. Yes, I'm another one that fell for the "this machine is a simple plug and go printer" claims. Anyway, I'm persevering with it. I hate to give up. I've kind of got it to a workable point now, where I can print using an extruder temp of 215 and a bed at 110, with layer of hairspray. I did the Z Offset calibration, and now have a decent 0.3mm resolution printer. But if I try at 0.2 or 0.1 then the plastic warps up off the bed, and it all ends up distorted, burnt and with huge clumps attached to the extruder. I've tried many many different temperature combinations, including not heating the bed at all, but can't get it to improve.

Any ideas?

Edit: forgot to say that I am using Repetier Host for printing.

Re: Can Only Print At 0.3mm

I've actually gotten good (albeit not always replicable) results in Soliprint with ABS temp of 215, bed of 90 (with hairspray), and at .3 and .1 resolutions. (I set the extruder calibration to 1 instead of the .7 that it used.) For some reason, RH ALWAYS printed with weird gashes on the outside and burnt chunks all over.

(Not actually any solutions, just some casual data on my part.)

Re: Can Only Print At 0.3mm

Thank you so much! This, combined with a couple of other weaks seems to have fixed my problems. I hadn't found the extrusion multiplier setting, so it was set on 0.6 (for some reason that was the default setting on my downloaded version). Changed it in both Soliprint and RH, and both are printing way better now. I'll post some comparison pics soon, when I'm fully happy with the prints. But the current print job is looking WAY better.

Thank you so much. Your casual data WAS the solution!
