Topic: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

Hi Guys,

After waiting to the shipped the solidoodle printer, that is my review!! ( Sorry for my english, not is the first language).

I have a solidoodle 3 since one year ago and thanks a this know i haven't too much problems with the workbench. First when i see the printer could not find any instruction physical or on the solidoodle web. So if i was a beginner I will be a crazy.
After installed the repetier-solidoodle v0.85b and many hours looking the information about this i can put to play the printer.
But is the moment when i see many problems with the setting because the printer was crazy. In repetier when select the icon to X or Y or Z origin , the extruder crashed with the lateral support , after that, Z motor don´t working with the icon ! . I can´t move down or up the z axis.
in youtube i found this video where he explained how to initially he was able to put to working the printer .

This is the g code to start code.
G28 X0 Y0 ;home X and Y
G29 ;probe bed
G90; set absolute coordinates
G92 E0; reset extruder distance
G1 Z5 F300 ;move platform down 5mm
G1 X145 Y145 F3000 ; move to back right corner

with this code the printer calibrate to z axis and put the extruder in zero origin

with this code the printer calibrate to z axis and put the extruder in zero origin. After this i could make my first print, later I was be the calibration to flow rate and the extruder  and the belt tension because when i printed a circle don´t has a good quality. It is another problem because don´t have on internet nothing about that, only this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YazR23Zn2xk.
After that i tried to print my first model with two materials but i don´t have how that , but i could find in this page how http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:124450/#instructions

Who have a settings or something about solidoodle workbench to have a better printer and how to improve the dual print ?

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

Download newest version of RH..also by default z axis buttons are reversed. Up arrow moves bed down, can go into printer settings and reverse just the Z...this will reverse RH not the printer.

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

Also have to set endstops x and y max and z is min in RH. Also make sure printer size is set to right dimensions in RH or it will smash walls all day

The up arrow is SUPPOSED to move the bed down this is normal and correct. all movement is in relationship to the tool ie the print nozzle. so up  moves the nozzle up. not the bed and since the nozzle can not move. up moves the bed away from the nozzle.
this is standard cnc convention.
I know this is easy to forget and I crashed the nozzle into a part because I forgot .

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

I get that im saying so it makes it less of a problem/confusing for OP when he decides to manually move things or when prints done and wants to move bed down and keep nozzle from mashing finished piece. For manually moving it. Ive sunk a 230° hot end right through a 5 hour print, sucks

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

OneMoreCast thank you for your answer , i know it about the setting on RH , I first download the RH 0.85b , it has the setting to Solidoodle Workbench , like you see in the pictures . I know that when you click on arrow up to bed down but it don´t my problem, my problem is that at any time when the printer is running code principally on start code the printer lost the zeros and when i send command to G28 X0 Y0 the extruder pack crashed with the corner so i have disconnect the printer because the RH not responded and again i have start the printer with the code like the first item on this topic.

I will try to post a video when this happens.

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

Your build plate is 306.80. Your z is wayyy low also try knocking down that 336

OK I see your point and  the I release there is a reason there are options to set up the build area pretty much howecver you want. And a personal machine why not set it up as you see fit.
But as we know convention is so on a factory floor you have ten guys and ten machines and  each operator once trained can operate any one of the machines of course with cnc it is more like one or two guys operating ten machines.

I have my park position set for 180,180 z min 50
I should add the park g code to slicer so It will happen automatically.  Otherwise I get a blob on the  part if I wait too long after the print is done.

Re: First prints with solidoodle Workbench

Switch layer height to .2963 and infill to rectilinear...can you upload infill numbers...set nozzle size to .4 all infill to .42 except support, put that at .21
