Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

Try tilting the front of print bed up while tighten the 2 screws.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

I originally bought a sheet of 1/16th PEI and just put higher spacers under the heated platform to raise it up so that the PEI fit tight with the hold down brackets. It then warped so I made this yesterday. .040 aluminum, with .040 PEI on top. 3m tape to hold it to the aluminum. Slides into the z axis carriage perfectly. PEI is an absolutely awesome material to print on, abs especially sticks right to it no warping, easy to remove after.

I also found two missing bolts on the bottom for the bed guides. The real bad vibration is gone now as it moves up and down. I still have deformed bed, the actual carriage is warped. When the heat plate is removed and I put a straight edge across it has more of a rock then the bed. Tried to pull down in the center to straighten it out some but difficult to do without risking damage to the machine

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

Going to try the PEI and aluminum method you describe.
A good friend purchased the XYZ Da Vinci V1 and has been printing nonstop for a week without a single issue. He did have to do a quick fix to a bearing or something but nothing like what I've been doing with this one.
Expected to be comparing print quality between the two, instead I have yet to produce a single print.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

After removing the heating pad and taking the bed out I was able to straighten it out "almost" perfect. The bed still tilts forward and when printing it is still off the bed in the front and dragging thru the print in the back.
The only thing I can think of is that the drive gear for the bed is loose (everything else was) and I can't see a way of getting to it without completely disassembling the entire machine.
Anyone have a suggestion on getting to this?
The bed tilting forward seems to be from the screws on the sides of the bed in the back but again there is not a way of getting to them.
I wish they would have just sold this as an unassembled kit so it could have been assembled correctly.
There is clearly no QC going on before these ship or at the factory. Missing screws, loose screws, stepper motor pots out of adjustment and it just doesn't print. I am to the point I don't believe the test print was done on this machine, there is no way they printed that on this printer.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

Can't post pics yet so I will describe what I've done so far.
Removing the two small screws between the larger Allen head bolts and the Z axis motor allows the center shroud to be removed. Need to lower the table by pushing down near the back of the table to lower it all the way down. Then to remove the center shroud gently pull down from the top and out near the center and it will flex enought to come out. Also removed the two side panels. Two screws on the top and two half way down inside the print chamber. Then you can see six small screws, removing those lets you pull out the inner shields/walls. They are a bit of a trick but they will come out.
There is a Z axis limit switch!!!
The two guide rods for the table have little to no grease on them.
The two screes on either side of the table were tight. The slop comes from there being no guide or support on the bottom of the block. On the top of it where the threaded rod comes thru there is a brass looking threaded guide screwed to the block (these were all some what loose). This is what moves against the threaded rod to move the table.
Could you attach another piece like the one on the top to the bottom of the block? Should take out any movement and level the bed.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

I messed with this thing for about 8 hours the Saturday I posted the issue with no luck. Got tired of playing with it, boxed it up, and sent Solidoodle an email requesting a return. No response from them with 2 follow ups since then (8 business days for anyone counting).

Have a feeling I'll be stuck with it and will need to figure it out if I want any type of return from my money. Quite disappointing.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

I had mine completely torn down and tightened every screw and fastener I could find. Put the missing bolts in the bottom of the bed rail guides, adjusted the trimpots, added grease to all the bed rails and tightened the Z axis motor down until I had no slop. I have my wire bundle off to the right with a rubber band to the hinge.
Went to test it out and I now have a clogged nozzle. I know that is my fault but damn, this thing has me so frustrated.
I have no acetone so I will pick that up tomorrow, couple more days at this point really wont matter.

I can't even put this up for sale without disclosing all its issues which means having to almost give it away.
I'm going to buy the Da Vinci and play with that until I can decide if I want to build one myself or just what my next step is.
And since I have this sitting here I will keep messing with it until it prints or until I disassemble it with a hammer.

You could see if it swims better then it prints... for science!  Or donate it to Slow Mo Guys.

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

Can anyone clarify the type of missing screw needed to stabilize the bed, or where on the printer the same type of screw is used?

Re: Platform tilted - Won't print even front to back.

which screw are you referring to?
The bottom of the bed guide rails need M4 X 8

the bottom of the bed (from the inside of the cabinet) use the same ones next to the Z axis motor that hold the rear shield in place (screw head not allen head)

The Z axis threaded rod goes thru a threaded nut(for lack of a better name) on the top side of the bed but is missing this on the bottom side of the bed-not sure where to get this one.

I would post a pic but haven't figured out how to yet

Are you sure about the M4 X 8? I bought M4 X 10 and *thought* they tightened up. Maybe I need to recheck it.
