Topic: XYZware Software Update Loop

Hi all,

I'll preface this by advising that I'm using an unmodded da Vinci 1.0, with standard filament.  I'm yet to get around to doing any modifications, other than to make a cut out to gain access to the on-board SD card.

I seem to be stuck in a loop of sorts with XYZware.

I receive a notification that there is a new software update available, to update to version 1.1.34.7, and do I want to install it.  I click "yes", the software downloads, and I go through the motions to install it.  The process completes OK.

When I restart XYZware, I receive notification that there is a new software update available, to update to version 1.1.34.7...

[Edit] I should also note that when I check the version of the program, it is updated to version 1.1.34.7, but it keeps asking if I want to update to this version - and it's on a timer too, as the box keeps popping up while the program is running...

Anyone know what's causing this, and how to get around it?

Cheers,

Jeff

Try starting xyz with admin privileges by right clicking on it and click run as admin. The do the update. it may not have write permission to the drive if you are one windows 7 and installing to the programs folder.

Re: XYZware Software Update Loop

Hi,

I tried this, but it still asks me if I want to update to the new version.  As per the original post (which I've edited in response to your suggestion) under äbout", XYZware is saying that it is version 1.1.34.7, but keeps asking me if I want to upgrade to 1.1.34.7.

This is a new version, which I installed last night, but have been getting the same pop-up box ever since the installation was completed.

Cheers,

Jeff

Ok maybe I am blind but I don't see where you started it in admin mode and ran the update while in admin mode.

Windows Vista, and 7 will not let some program make changes to the programs folder unless the program making the change has been started in admin mode. You being an admin is not good enough. You also have to right click the program and select run as administrator. There may be a file it needs to write to close the upgrade and it can't as Windows is preventing it. If you have done this, then maybe do a full uninstall then go to XYZ website and download the latest installer there.

Re: XYZware Software Update Loop

I had the same problem as well. I emailed tech support about it. They had me update to 1.1.34.8 which did nothing to fix the problem. Then I emailed them a few more times and they said they "fixed it" and I haven't seen the update dialog since. It had been coming up every 5 minutes. Not sure how I feel about them being able to fix it from their end!

Hi Carl,

Sorry I wasn't clearer.  I meant that I tried what you suggested, restarted the program, and the pop up box was there again.  I edited my original post, adding in additional information so that others wouldn't ask the same question.

Cheers,

Jeff.

Hi all,

For the record, the pop-up box seems to have gone away of it's own accord today...

Hi,

I think you've posted this to the wrong thread.
