Topic: First layer using Simplify3d and repetier 0.92 problem.

Hi,
It seems that whatever settings I use for the 1st layer, it does not change anything. I dropped the height down to 25%, width to 200% but it won't make a great flat 1st layer. The settings does not apply to the print. So comes the warping without a 1st "squished" layer.
It worked good with the factory firmware.
The bed is leveled the same way than before using a paper sheet. I could make it a bit closer but too close could trigger an eventual accident.

Any idea ?

If you're saying you dropped the first layer height down to 25%, then I think that's your problem. You want your first layer height to be greater than 100%. For example, I'm running a first test right now with some 3rd party ABS I'm dialing in, I'm running:

1st Layer Height: 160%
1st Layer Width; 130%
1st Layer Speed: 35%

And it's laying down a nice, sticky first layer. My default print speed (in Other tab) is 30 mm/s

According to the s3d website's tutorial, reducing the height should print a smaller layer.

Quote; "Percentages under 100% will reduce the height of the layer being printed (with no change to the extrusion amount).  For example, if you entered 75%, your first layer height is reduced while your extrusion remains at 100%.  Another way to think of this is that 100% of your extrusion will be forced into a space that is 75% of the layer height.  This reduction in height generates extra pressure and more surface area for that layer, which will help the first layer adhere to the print bed."

I tried your settings with no chances. It did not change anything. It really seems that adjusting those settings change nothing at all when printing.
What's weird is that it worked good with the stock firmware.

Honestly you should not be changing any of those settings from default. The first layer should be dictated by your bed height that is done during calibration. If you have that set right you should get a good stick and good fill without out changing the parameters.

maybe you're right but I liked to be able to have control from the software as the damn bed is curved itself with it's middle lower than it's outside. I adjusted the bed close enough but closer would make me worried about the nozzle hitting the side of the bed when positioning from home.
Also, It really helped me with adhesion.

Ok the problem is not really done from 1st layer perspective but I tightened the leveling a bit more and I used elmer extra strength glue stick and wow it was nicely stuck to the bed. I hope it was not luck as it is my 1st time with that glue but it seems promising.
