I am a total newbie.
I Feel like it is because the press stripped it when the cable got stuck too much.
The pulleys have set screws. You can tighten them if the gear is slipping on the shaft. If the belt is loose, you need to loosen the two mounting screws on the stepper and tighten the belt.
Instructions from solidoodle support:
To tighten the pulleys for the Y-Motor, you will want to loosen the two screws holding the Y-motor in place. You should now be able to freely move the Y-motor up and down. Use a screwdriver or some kind of lever to lift the motor so that the belt is as tight as it can be, then re-tighten the two loose screws. We are working as hard as we can to get some support guides up, but like I said, we are very busy over here but we should have some up within a week or so.
I would check the set screws first. There are two on each pulley. I had a loose one and it caused the pulley to rotate on the shaft about an 1/8 of a turn.

Ok so I bought an extra long set of hex heads and tightened every one along the y axis but it still slips I even tightened the pain in the butt one in the corner that runs the long belt. Is there a way to tighten the belt tension? It is the only thing I can think of. Ideas anyone? At this point I wish they would have left me more room to do "warranty work" lol. I have submitted a ticket but I have a feeling there are people here who know more tests hen solidoodle does about the press.
I have some backlash on mine and have asked support if there is a way to adjust the tension on the 2 long Y-axis belts. No response so far.
How were you able to access the ones in the corners? I was only able to access the two right next to the stepper motor.
Honestly, I two fingered the long end of a hex head in the hole and then worked it tight with one of the fingers stuck in there and hoped I didn't drop the wrench. One was wiggly.

I have tightened ever set screw on y axis. I have decided that it the the motor for the y axis it failing. About 5mm into a 20mm cube it starts slipping. I notice the it clicks when it slips it it the same sound it made when the cable got in the way of it homing just a single click for each slip. It it possible that thr motor needs more power or is the motor bad? I have a ticket in with solidoodle but I haven't heard from them lately. Any help would be great.

If you aren't over extruding to the point that the nozzle is dragging causing it to skip. You may need to adjust the VREF for that axis slightly. Skipping is rarely caused by a failing motor.
I did adjust my trim pot just before this started to happen it doesn't seem to be over extruding. How would I adjust my BEEF? thank yoi so much for helping me out with this.

I don't know that adjusting your "BEEF" is going to help with this ![]()
Your VREF is the trim pot for that axis it sounds like you need to turn it up slightly.
Is it possible that I over adjusted my extruder trim pot which made my y axis whimpy? I turned down the extruder slightly and now it hasn't skipped yet.

how would I find out which on is they axis with no fluke?
They are usually labeled on the board or you can follow the wires from that motor.
