Topic: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

I designed this to go over the head of the orginal screw.  It tells how much z moved on small turns.

My printer is broken waiting for a new peek so I haven't made the part yet.

Good idea, did you make sure it doesn't hit the case, and did you compensate for interior holes being smaller than modeled?

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

Just printed this. Will not clear the back cover. Not even close. Nice idea. Might still be useful if you shrink down the diameter to clear the back.

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

How much smaller should it be to clear the case?
If the holes are too small let me know what size they are and I will fix it.  I'm hoping for a press fit.
Any other improvements that  you can see let me know also.

For my SD2 the distance from the center of the Z screw head to the back cover is about 7.5mm - 8mm. So the diameter of the indicator would have to be about 14mm - 15mm max to clear the cover. For me the indicator printed at about 19mm diameter (including the indicator spikes).
Also, as a reference, for me this indicator printed out with a hole diameter of about 5.25mm. Do not know how it fits on the head of the screw since the back cover interfered and I did not want to remove the screw to try insert it into the indicator.

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

I think I got it fixed.
Do you have a SD1?

RevA makes the od smaller to clear case and numbered teeth

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

Kendall at the Google Group had a good solution.  He drilled a hole in the case above the Z screw and set a long allen wrench through it with a T handle on top.  That way he could adjust the screw without removing the case.  Unfortunately I can't find the post with the photo.

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

I got my peek and adjusting z I sitll need to make a change to keep the z carrage from hitting.

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

I don't find myself adjusting it that much, how often would you say you re-level and adjust the z?

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

OK... OD of Rev a adjuster is good for me now and it clears the case but the hole diameter increased and it now fits loose on the stock Z adjustment screw head. But I would also have to replace the Z cap screw for a longer one because the table assembly will hit the adjuster in the upper (near tip) position. Looks like the Z adjusting screw needs to be about 10mm longer for me to use this adjuster.
I have a SD2.

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

See how this works.
I shrunk the hole by .25 and added a stick out of 10mm to the botton

Re: Z axis stop screw travel indicator.

Here is a bigger one that you put on the hex wrench shaft.

The previous one is too small to see the lettering and indicators.
