Topic: Repetier host/ slicer speed % or mm? what is the diff?

On speed setting I see it says % or mm  what do I use? % or mm? Not sure what the difference is?

Where indicated a value can be given in percentage. This is in relation to the preceding value, e.g. 50% solid infill would be half of the value defined for infill.

still confused.  If I want to print faster should I use % or mm ?

Not all speed settings can be set in %.
For example, Perimeters: 50 mm/s
Small perimeter and external perimeter are subsets of Perimeters.  So you can set it to 40 mm/s or 80% (50 * .8 = 40)
Then you have top infill and solid infill which are subsets of Infill, etc.

Re: Repetier host/ slicer speed % or mm? what is the diff?

^^ Exactly! SO looking at the image on the link I sent you it would break down like this.

Perimeters - main setting, must be a number such as 40.
Small Perimeters - sub setting can be a number or a % but should be smaller than the main setting.
External Perimeters - also a sub-setting and can be number or % but must/should be smaller than main setting.

Infill - main setting, must be number such as 55.
solid infill -sub-setting and like the other sub-settings can be a number or % but must be smaller than the main setting.
top solid infill - also a sub-setting and you should be getting it by now.

As for your last question, the main setting dictates the max speed that you can use for those operations. In the case of the example 40 and 55 are the magic numbers. So with that the highest you can set the others for is either 100% or 40 and 55. However you can't do that because the operations that are sub-settings require more precision and with speed you loose precision.

In fact the max safe speed for this printer in my opinion for any of the main operations is 60 mm/s. I tried 70 and ugliness occurred very quickly.

When I print at 60 I usually go down the line of settings like this.

60
50
45
55
50
45
60
35

If you are not sure or you car still confused just keep it real and  use mm for all settings.
