Topic: Help with Stall Protection Board

I am trying to adjust the stall protection board on this v1.6 Filastruder.

I was turning the CV adjustment counterclockwise, waiting to hear a click, and never hearing it.

I got bored and decided to work on the CC adjustment for a while, and heard the click right away. It's very soft, and you can turn past the click easily. When turning clockwise, you don't hear the click at all.

I was expecting the adjustment screw to actually stop when it was turned far enough. Now I don't know what to do. Have I turned it too far? Is that possible?

I am worried that I'll need to turn the CV adjustment clockwise it for a long time to be sure I have passed the click, then go counterclockwise again until I hear it.

The CV pot may not have the little detent inside, or it may be smaller than normal. If you start rotating CW 15-20 turns from where you are now, you should be at full voltage.

I believe you can go counterclockwise many times past the click, and still be at 0.

They are endless turn pots, so you can’t break them by turning too far. No harm, no foul.

It is possible the LED color has changed since I wrote the instructions, in which case I’ll revise them. Is the motor turning at all for you?

He replied that he has a multimeter, so:

Oh, with a multimeter this is simple!

With the gearmotor unloaded and set to full voltage, you should see around 5.5RPM. One thing - because PWM is used to control motor voltage, it will always appear as ~12v to the multimeter.

Next, go full CCW on CC until you hear the click, disconnect the motor, connect the terminals for the multimeter. Set the meter to the 10A setting. Connect the meter terminals where the motor was. This will apply a short on the output of the motor. You can then adjust CC in the CW direction until you see 1.5 amps - this should be about 6 turns past the “0” point.

You can then reconnect the motor, and should be all set.

There are no instructions to connecting the stall protect in the circuit. Can you guide me with that.
If my assumption is right, the output of the board goes to the motor. What about the remaining stuff ?

Yes, the output of the board connects to the motor. There are definitely instructions (and diagrams) about the electrical assembly. What version PDF are you working with?

I am using v1.6. There is a circuit diagram. But there are no steps listed about the stall board connections in the instructions

The stall board connections are quite simple, and are shown in the diagram. No need for step by step.
