Topic: Extruder problem?

Hey guys! After lots of success with my printer it is now giving me some grief. My last prints have been failing about 10-15mm above the print bed. It appears that the extruder is getting clogged, the filament will quit extruding but the print head continues its path and then in this last print it came back to start extruding all over the inside of the printer.

I have:
Cleaned the print head using the small gauge wire supplied by XYZ
Reloaded the cartridge and it extrudes fine
Ensured my bed is calibrated and not contacting the nozzle

Any insight on what to do?

Re: Extruder problem?

Is it making clicking noises?  The gears on the extruder might be clogged from a previous filament issue and are now not grabbing the filament well.

Re: Extruder problem?

No clicking noises. It seems to just stop feeding. The filament is not moving relative to the extruder during this event.

Re: Extruder problem?

Well it looks like the extruder temp is fluctuating. I started another print and let it go until it failed and looked at the temp and it was at 47C

Re: Extruder problem?

I would check the connectors. It seems like it can be badly connected and it would explain your intermittent problem. There is some threads and a video about the nozzle unit connectors.

Good luck

That seems to have fixed it. I have a print going now and the temp is stable. Thanks!
