Here is my solution for adapting the Hexagon hot end into the Davinci 1
The main parts used are;
Hexagon hot end and a Chinese MK8 extruder without the heatsink and fan. The carriage uses 8x15mm linear bearings.
Fits and clears nicely
Print quality is good considering I still have the issues with out of round holes. Both were printed with the same settings and a .25mm layer height.
The serrated grip for the drive belt is printed separately from the main carriage to allow for better printing quality. I used acetone to glue it in place on the carriage once I made sure the fit was good and the belt fit was also good. Acetone is the best glue in the world for ABS.
I printed the serrated piece with the serrations up so I could get a better result. After gluing the piece into the carriage I ran some small screws through the serrated piece and into the carriage to squeeze the opening of the serrated piece against the belt. The belt isn't going anywhere.
I also ran a screw and washer in the carriage to prevent the linear bearings from escaping.

Where is your x-axis home flag, I don't see it? That would be the tab that slips in to the opto sensor so the machine knows the carriage is in home position.
Also I can't seem to get any images loading on the thinigverse page..
Never Mind, I see you have an undocumented mechanical switch now. Might want to add that to the requirements if I missed it.
On my printer It doesn't need the flag for the x axis. The way I mounted the mechanical X end stop makes it stick out enough so the carriage hits it first.
The thingiverse instructional file says that I have the Ramps/Arduino setup and the new extruder and hot end might not work with an un modified Da Vinci. I will add the bit about the end stops so there is less confusion.
Just finished a 12hr print with PLA and started another. I am very happy with the way this turned out. I could not print more than a few hours with PLA before.
The 12hr print was done with Repetier, Slic3r at .35layer, 80 speed, 180c hot end temp, 70c bed temp.

Its a large print but it works quite well.
I have no regrets about replacing another part of the Da Vinci poor excuse of a printer.
The linear ball bearings will wear the shafts since XYZ cheaped out with their shafts. The shafts either need to be replaced with hardened shafts or you will need the carriage I posted to thingiverse that uses the original Da Vinci bushings. Its all available on Thingiverse.
