Topic: repetier host, how to heat bed and head at same time?
Is there a way to heat the bed and head up at the same time? Would like to do this to save start up print time.

Start warming them with manual controls while you load stl is what I do
they do. just lists 1 command at a time. I home motors then turn on bed, load stl and start slicing it. when bed reachs within 10 of set temp turn extruder heater on as its faster and it dont need to sit idle hot for many reasons. then when both temps met and slicing done hit start while cleaning extra ooze off hot end. also if ya must kill job due to errors printing turn bed heater back on to reduce restart times while fixing issues then repeat.
works 4 me
IMO the best thing to do is to heat the bed and then let it sit for about 3 - 5 minutes after it reaches the desired bed temp. This ensures the entire bed is the same temp, not just an area around the thermistor used to measure temp. So you could wait 2 minutes after it hits the desired temp, then start heating the extruder head, which will add another 2 minutes or so, giving you a nice even bed temp.
what do you save? 5 minutes out of a several hour print?

The idea is to not let filament sit in the nozzle at full temp for any period of time. It cooks and get hard and can clog your nozzle and even feed tube if it is heated idle long enough.
The proper method is to heat the bed to full temp or within 10 to 20 degrees and then heat the extruder. By the time the extruder reaches full temp the bed will be at full temp and you can start a print. If you ever slice and then put a the gcode on your card and then load the file from the LCD you will see the machine does just this.
If you heat both at the same time the extruder will reach full temp a good 3 to 5 minutes before the bed does and while you are still waiting for the bed you have filament in the nozzle and heat block cooking and hardening.
