Topic: Serial Numbers of 1.0A vs 1.0?

Ordered 1.0 wanting to get a 1.0A and unlike most everyone else I got a 1.0
I complained to Amazon and no questions asked they shipped me another machine.
It's sitting here in the carton and I'm not convinced its a 1.0A, so I'm wondering if its possible to tell if its a 1.0A without opening the box (because it will be a LOT more convenient to return it with the shipping straps still on it than taping the whole thing up again).

The serial number on the box is:
3DP01-PUS5-TH-46A-xxxx
and the part number is:
3DP01XUS00C

If anyone with a 1.0A could maybe let me know if their serial and/or part number has anything to indicate it is a 1.0A rather than a 1.0?

thanks.

Re: Serial Numbers of 1.0A vs 1.0?

I believe you have the older 1.0.  The 1.0A, at least the one I got, starts with 3F10A-PUS5-TH-XXX-XXXX.

If you can get Amazon to send you another one, ask them to send it from the Vernon, CA hub.

HAH... followed the link in the article referred to by carl...

http://us.xyzprinting.com/us_en/Product/PLA

did anyone noticed they're now talking about how it works with PVA? Which is entertaining because not only because their PLA offering is still non-existent, but now they're talking about PVA which has never shown up in their docs anywhere.
No doubt it'll be offered down the road someday... but you'll probably need another new extruder or perhaps a new filament bay or god knows what else.

XYZprinting is starting to be a champ at marketing vaporware.

Hi Boxcar,

Mind if I ask what is wrong with the 1.0? I have one, and for what it is it does a good job. I can print with no glue or tape and have hacked it to use Rep Host and Firmware and am very pleased with it for the price. I am planning changes for it, but mainly to just to completely break it form the XYZ shackles and filament limitations. Maybe somebody could enlighten me as to the difference between a 1.0 and a 1.0A. The only difference I knew of was a more locked down controller board on the 1.0A.

Main difference it's that 1.0A and 2.0A can print PLA.

I thought that some confirmed that the 1.0A will not print PLA unless you add more heatsinks to the heads throat?

Well I can't speak for 1.0A but I had an AIO and now a duo 2.0A and I can print pla.

Re: Serial Numbers of 1.0A vs 1.0?

I bought another one (thinking it would be a 1.0A) because it was on sale for $400.00 and I had observed that it had a number of improvements (better door, cable management, better shaft placement etc. ) and at the time I presumed it would do PLA. If it cannot do PLA then that's somewhat disappointing but I thought at the discounted price it was something that I could afford and that doing a comparison would be entertaining and educational. smile
I guess I'll have to see... especially if Amazon can get me a 1.0A. They willingly and quickly provided me with a return shipping label with a promise to send me the right machine again. So here I am with two 1.0's sitting in their cartons and waiting for the next one to arrive (they say thursday). I wonder how many I'll have sitting around by the time they get it right. smile

They will print PLA, but not reliably.

Even at the lower temperature (which you need repetier or a modified fw/resetter), there are reports of random jams (during long prints of 45 minutes+).

But yeah, the common method is to either install heatsinks on the barrel, or print a modified shroud to redirect some airflow to the area just above the nozzle.

Re: Serial Numbers of 1.0A vs 1.0?

Well Amazon made good and my new 1.0A printer arrived yesterday... I guess it's 'third time lucky'.
However XYZ is making me feel special now... I see that Amazon has now posted new listings for the 1.0A ($632.03) AND the 2.0A ($780.08) although it claims they are both "temporarily out of stock".
I suspect this whole enterprise is to prevent people like me from returning a 1.0 to get a 1.0A or a 2.0 if you were hoping for a 2.0A. If you order a 1.0 and get a 1.0A and you wanted a 1.0 they get to say "oh... specifications are subject to change without notice", but if you get a 1.0 and wanted a 1.0A they get to say, "oh, you ORDERED a 1.0 and that's what we delivered. If you wanted a 1.0A you should have ordered one." (After all, they're only $132.00 more!!!!)
Once again, XYZ outdo themselves as a bunch of clowns. If they really engaged in this exercise because of my experience how tragic is that?

Re: Serial Numbers of 1.0A vs 1.0?

I'm on my second one right now with the third arriving on Saturday. First one was a 1.0 and had many issues. The one I have right now (1.0a) seems to be working fine with the exception of a badly warped print bed (right in the middle it is much higher than the rest of the bed). If tomorrow's is a 1.0 as opposed to a 1.0a, I may just swap out the glass and send the new one back (so I can keep my 1.0a).

Interesting they are charging more.

Not sure your point, this 3F10A pretty much tells you what you have...
