Topic: Z-Home - is this where the print starts for the bed???

Sorry for the very newb question but I am just playing it safe.

Having issues with my Da Vinci 1.0 and received my replacement from Amazon today (the new version 1.0a). Very first thing I was going to do was a calibration of the bed. As the bed and extruder were heating up, I decided to shut it off and verify the extruder wouldn't hit the bed during calibration (I've read to many posts about this  happening after flashing custom firmware). So, I homed all the axes and manually moved the print head to the bed only to find that it WILL hit the bed...by a lot. This thing is brand new...this is the very first thing I have done (haven't even hooked up to the computer yet).

I am going to flash with repetier anyway so my plan is to just tighten down the bed until it clears the print head (and then flash repetier and re-calibrate), but just wanted to make sure there isn't something I missing (and maybe shouldn't tighten down the bed...).

Also, it came with firmware 1.0.1. If I flash repetier, is there a bin out there for this firmware in case I need to flash back or is this a one way street?

You cant go by the parked position. Home is not yhe same as parked but home is the start level. Just start a sample print, as soon as the head, not the bed moves turn off power and then check clearance. furing normal Operating the bed will move below home when it reaches temp then when the head reaches temp the head will move and the bed will move up to the current home.

Could you tell me the difference between parked and home in repetier?

Parked is the height that it is at when over the catch tray. That height is not the same as the height when the print starts which is the home height.
