Topic: Shutting off after uploading print?

I recently updated to firmware 1.2.4 and tried to print an iphone case. Whenever I click print (in both mac and windows xyzware) it will slice fine, then start uploading. Right when the upload is about to finish, the printer will turn off, then back on. I have tried different computers, unplugging, and re-downloading xyzware. I'm almost positive I have printed something with the new firmware, but am not positive. It will do all regular functions (demo prints, loading/unloading filament) but will not print. Any idea what could be up?

You may want to verify the model by running it a repair service like Netfabb cloud service. You have to understand much of the stuff out there are just renders and have never been printed. In fact many creators of these models don't even have a 3D Printer or are aware of their limitations.

If the models have errors or are not what is referred to as being water tight it can cause the Da Vinci software to crash and force reset the printer.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: Shutting off after uploading print?

From time to time I experienced similar problems, and I think its probably a problem with the gCode file XYZware is sending to the printer. I suggest running your STL file through netFab to see if it can be repaired. Worked for me most of the time.

I ran the part through netfabb and it still shuts off, I then tried a part that I have already printed 3 times and it still shuts off. Any ideas?

Re: Shutting off after uploading print?

One possibility is if your file name is longer than 56 characters, including .STL extension.  The Da Vinci can only accept a slice created from an .STL with a filename 56 characters or less, or else you will get the exact behavior you're experiencing.  Even if you take an >56 character .STL, make a slice, save it off as a .3W, and reload it, it will reboot the printer when you transmit it.

It randomly started working again, same parts. Don't know what I did different but for now it's all good.

Re: Shutting off after uploading print?

You posted this in 2015 I know this is a dead thread BUT I can not find anywhere else where someone has stated this problem and I'm having it. I have done all suggested above, but nothing. I cant even print test model already stored in the machine. Any help please? I have printed nothing I just got it.
