Topic: my first 3d printer da Vinci 1.0 with repetier

I just bought my first 3d printer, a da Vinci 1.0 with repetier already installed on it and to be honest I'm worried I made a mistake. There is a step learning curve with this thing.
I have printed some sample files and have identified that the print bed needs to be calibrated because the extruder is gliding across the glass and clicking not allowing the plastic to come out. So I download repetier on my computer to try to address this issue and can't get it to connect. I then downloaded the drivers for the printer from xyz and still no deal. does anyone have any advice on getting this thing up and going? I thought I was just going to go straight to repetier and now I'm wishing I would have just got one with factory xyz firmware.

Not trying to throw stones here, but you really should have learned the basics of 3d printing with the stock configuration. Many of the basics can be learned with printing sample files and simple things from thingiverse. As far as fixing your flash to Repetier, I suggest following this youtube video where he goes through and erases the old firmware and starts from scratch. Follow the video exactly how he does, downloading the same software and files.

Bed needs to be calibrated with the thumb wheels. Find the sheet of paper method on here. It works well...

Your bed is too high and too close to the nozzle, that's why there's no filament coming out and your hearing the clicking.
Use the calibration method in the sticky and you should be good.
