Topic: Filament wont unload!

When i try to unload the filament it only heats up to about 140 C and tries to unload but there is no motor noise.  However I can load and print perfectly fine.  Any ideas?

You let your machine update to the current firmware didn't you?

From what I have been reading there is currently not a direct fix available. You will have to contact their support. Screw around back and fourth for a few days. They will send you a hot fix file. You will install it, and now you can load and unload but your printer may not see your carts as official carts.

Re: Filament wont unload!

I saw you can download the hot fix in the support section of the xyz website.  I did the update but my left head unloaded fine...now I'm wondering if that's why the right head got a serious jam on the unload I did right after the update.
Note: I did not DL or install the hot fix.

Luckily, with two extruders I can still print something.

Re: Filament wont unload!

Here is the link to the hotfix:

http://support.xyzprinting.com/us_en/He … inci%201.0

It will load Firmware 1.2.5 which will allow you to unload the filament. 1.2.4 was a bad release of firmware... the unload didn't work.

It  left me with 2 out of 3 of my cartridges not working... one complaining that I had an illegal cartridge and the other one just not being recognized. Both worked fine in the recent past.  I've only run stock software to date.

Thanks for posting the link to the hot fix works great now!

Interesting... firmware 1.2.5 doesn't show on the page for me. In fact, no firmware at all shows.

Re: Filament wont unload!

I have a DaVinci 1.0 and it was running firmware version 1.2.3 just fine.  After launching XYZware there was a notification of a new software and firmware update so my software went from 1.1.34.4 to 1.1.34.7 and the firmware went to 1.2.4.  It was printing just fine but when I wanted to swap cartirdges the head only heated up to around 135 degrees C and then said unloading filament, please wait, but there was no sound coming from the stepper motor and after a half a minute it said pull out filament. Well it's kind of difficult to pull out the filament when it is not at the melting temp of 205 or better.  I have been going back and forth with XYZ for a week or so and they gave me that link for the hot fix, and all I got was that 500 error from three different browsers.  If you go to their website you will find the hotfix file that will update the software to 1.1.34.8 and update the firmware to 1.2.5.  Now when the head gets to 135 the motor turns on.  That's the only change that happened with mine, so it is still not fixed.  I keep telling them that the head needs to get to 205 in order to unload the filament, but they can't seem to wrap their heads around it.  I told them to just give me back my 1.2.3 firmware.  I read somewhere in this forum about the hotfix working with DaVinci 1.0a machines, but it is not working with my 1.0 machine.  I will update this as soon as I know more...

Re: Filament wont unload!

Here is the latest on the "bad firmware" issue.  At one point they wanted me to send my whole machine in for them to look at.  I said that was not going to happen so then after numerous e-mails later they suggested that I send them the mainboard so I agreed to that and sent it to thier facility at Paloma, CA and after a week and a half I got a different one back.  No idea if it was new or the latest one or what.  The only thing that I noticed on the new one was that the three buttons in the middle of the board just to the right of the motot controlers were not there.  Anyhow I installed it and looked at the firmware version and it was 1.1.J. So I tried the filament unload routine and it worked just fine.Taking the head up to 205C before the motor came on.  I figured it was fixed until I tried to print a new file that I had just sliced and got a message that I would need to upgrade my firmware in order for it to print.  I allowed it to do that and it updated it to 1.2.3, which was what I was using before all of this crap went down. I did a few prints with no problem and then I brought in a new .stl file to slice and print and got that same message about updating the firmware.  I let it do it's thing and looked at the version and hoped that it was not 1.2.4 or 1.2.5 and it was a totally new one; 1.2.6 so I thought great that must be the latest and would work fine.  NOT!. Now I am right back to where I was with a crippled filament unloading routine. They are going to call me on March 4th so we will see where that goes.
