Topic: Amazon still shipping 1.0 not 1.0A

Was told that Amazon was actually shipping 1.0A's instead of 1.0 on their discounted $400 price. Given that the 1.0A is supposed to come with the PLA capable head (which is going to be at least a $100 upgrade), and that I had heard numerous improvements to the X/Y carriage had been made as well as the ongoing defective extruder plug I thought it would be smart to buy the discounted printer, enjoy all the improvements and worry about the whole XYZ firmware issues later... BUT...

they shipped me a 1.0

serves me right. caveat emptor. sad

I ordered mine 2 weeks before xmas and got a 1.0A.  I think it all depends on which warehouse the printer is being shipped out of.  I'm on the West coast and almost all of my Amazon purchases are being shipped out of their Nevada warehouse if that makes any difference.

I ordered one 12/28/14 and thought for sure I was going to be getting a 1a. To my pleasant surprise, I got a 1.0

There is really nothing wrong with a 1.0, it will just need a little more TLC...

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I ordered mine on Black Friday.  The display said it was 1.0 but it came with the 1.0.1 firmware.  When I updated it via software it updated the name on the front to 1.0a and firmware 1.0.3.  I got my from Amazon.  Perhaps they have some of the original left but check the firmware version on yours if you have not.

clearly i live in the wrong part of the country. i'm in atlanta... i think the amazon warehouse is in kentucky for this location.

how do we determine if it is a 1.0A vs 1.0. I got mine on black Friday and it came with firmware 1.0.1 and I am yet to update to 1.0.3. also is there a pic of the hot end that will work with PLA vs the one that won't.
.got mine from newegg also.

Your printer sounds the same as mine.  When I updated the firmware it changed the firmware to 1.0.3 from 1.0.1.  It also modified the printer name to read 1.0A in the display.

That's the answer to your own question.  The 1.0 won't read 1.0A.

Almost all of the 1.0A say "3D PRINTER" on the door.  There are also some differences in the components, that you can verify.

I've actually delayed my order for a 1.0 to wait for the 1.0A - Fundamentally they are very similar.

But the slight improvements they've made, to me it was worth waiting for.
Not interested in hacking it - just want a simple 3d printer.

I got the $469.99 for Davinci PLUS 7 cartridges that was running last week. Printer was listed at $279 with rebate.

Got a 1.0a....has all the updates.

Still have that deal but since everyone has raised the base printer price to $499 now...the deal is $569.99

Well for the next few days if someone receives a 1.0A when they wanted a 1.0 I'd be happy to swap with them.

Well...it's like the 'Obamacare Subsidies'....it's not REALLY a rebate...it's a reduced price when purchased as a combo. New Egg just calls it a 'rebate'....

Still...printer + 7 carts for $469 was a very good deal. AND...mine was a 1.0a version too...
