Topic: Possibly shorted out my machine?
Hey all,
Long time lurker here (thanks for all the great info, guys)
This is KILLING me. This week I finally got prints coming out of this machine absolutely beautifully. Perfect layer alignment, no Z-ribbing, and knocking overhangs out of the park. And today I got my new nozzle that I wanted to use for PLA, and got it up and running with some heatsinks and thermal grease and it was printing PLA like a champ.
I even made a fan shroud and mounted some 80mm fans in the handle of the machine. Life was good!
And then, when running some leads up through the case to a cooling fan I had just snapped onto the back of the extruder stepper... I shorted the leads on the case because, like an idiot, I didn't check to see if my power was off.
Now my PC won't recognize the machine and there's no text on the LCD display. I don't see anything obviously burnt out on the motherboard.... can anyone help me out here?
The power I shorted was the direct +12v coming right off the white P4 connector from the PSU.
Is there any chance I didn't just throw away 9 months of tweaking?
