Topic: Really watertight (as in holds water)

I see people printing wineglasses and vases all over, but I find my prints don't hold water. The ones I've tried tend to leak water a drop at a time and absorb a fair amount of water. I'm wondering if it's actually possible to print a truly watertight container, whether it's only possible with acetone vapor finishing, or whether the whole thing is just for show.

Anyone have success printing an object that actually holds water (or presumably more difficult, wine or beer) without leaking?

Sure it is possible. What you don't see up close is that those objects have a wall thickness of about 5mm and are printed at 100% fill.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Scotchguard?

Seems someone at the local hackerspace was spraying that (or something) in his thin wall prints to seal them. Might even have been spray clear Acrylic sealant (available at Hobby/Art stores for sealing crafts and artwork).....

Even with a thick wall I get some leak-by....trust me...I can never get my bongs to hold water... smile

What temperature are you printing at and what color are you using? Yes color matters. Lighter colors need higher temps while darker colors need lower temps. Overall you should be printing around 220 to 230.
