Topic: Repetier Host versions for Press

So, if I get my Press (due on Thursday) before SoliPrint is released, what version of Repetier Host do I use?

Do I have to use the Solidoodle specific version they link to under the "Getting Started" link for the older printers, which appears to be version .85, or can I just download version 1.06 from the Repetier Host website?

If either would work, is there a reason I would prefer the older version?  I see that they may be using a different slicing program, for instance.

Thanks,

Dave

Edit: SoliPrint is Available now!  Question still remains though... if I do want the additional control of Repetier Host... which version should I use?  Thoughts?

Re: Repetier Host versions for Press

they said early on the Press wont work with RH only soliprint. thats why I didnt want it plus other preparatory items since Solidoodles reputation has gotten poorer.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

When did they say this? According to their SoliPrint Q/A, RH should still be an option.

SoliPrint strips out many of the variables for printing to make it as easy as possible. If you would like advanced features, you can still use Repetier-Host to take advantage of those options.

Re: Repetier Host versions for Press

Although we recommend using SoliPrint with the Press, you can still use Repetier Host if you wish. Our latest installer (http://support.solidoodle.com/hc/en-us/ … l-Software) has profiles for all of our printers including the Press as well as an updated version of Slic3r.

Re: Repetier Host versions for Press

Thank you, I prefer more control over the machine, and like Repeitier and slic3r.   I just d/l the Repetier version for the press, after deleting all previous references to Repetier and Slic3r.  Being a previous SD3 user, I  Also used regeidt to get rid of any references to Repetier of Slic3r before I installed Soliprint and Repetier..just checked and new settings are available.  Now if the UPS guy would show up...

as i stated "early on" like 5-6 months ago when asked about the software they told us the Press would only use Soliprint and WB series RH and maybe Soliprint later if desired. as they thought it was the bomb by how they bragged on it. albeit based on noob 3D printer users. and not so much for experienced users wanting more control for modifying settings etc. also limited materials use.

Re: Repetier Host versions for Press

Hi Glorious, Omniscient Intarwebs!

For the life of me, I cannot get SoliPrint on my mac to recognize the Press!  I have emailed support several days ago, nut no reply.

So, in my desperation, I'm trying to get my new Press to print using Repetier Host (like I did with my Solidoodle 2).  For the life of me, I cannot get it to print on the bed.  It tries to do the job, but hovers 4 or 5mm above the surface.  In the guide booklet, Page 8, step 10, it tells me to "Set your Z offset using the enclosed instructions."  I'm thinking this may be the problem.  There were no instructions enclosed anywhere on setting the Z-offset.

Any help with my hovering print jobs or inability to connect via SoliPrint?  Thanks!!!

Does anyone have any ideas?!

Make sure you have G29 in your start code to probe the bed after you home (G28).
