Topic: stops mid print still?

I keep having the same problem off and on.
my 1.0 will print a few layers then the filament stops coming out.
I cancel print and hit load filament and It loads ok. Temps show 230 when it I have this problem. Then it will go a week and all is ok with no problems then back again.
Its a odd problem that has me pulling my hair out. I have replaced the black heater plug in the past with a good deans plug, so all seems to be ok there.

Re: stops mid print still?

It could be an issue with your thermistor connection or the thermistor. If the connection is intermittent the printer would see this as a sudden drop in temp and stop the extruder on the assumption it is not hot and the filament is not melted. This is for safety to avoid damages to the extruder or just grinding filament.

If it is intermittent then when you see the temp it might be ok but for that brief moment the logic sees it, it is cold.

Thanks, maybe on to something.  I have in the past taken my extruder completely apart to acetone the parts. I removed thermistor and it looked ok. It does have a very small exposed area on the wire by the tip that could ground out to the tip, not sure if that would cause any problems? thermister is very loose but stays in place due to the screw that goes behind it. Not sure if that would hurt anything?

Re: stops mid print still?

I just had the machine turned off for 5mins after running it for about 20mins at 220c. I then now just turned it back on and getting error 0014 and temp says 270c.  Not sure what is going on now. sounds like maybe thermister. I have a spare thermister I had bought off ebay.  maybe I should try it?

Nope that did not seem to be the problem. Still having the same problem. I am lost. I am thinking I will have to buy a different brand extruder, and throw this stock junk away
