Would it be possible to use matter hackers matter control software with the davinci 1.0?

Not if you are running stock firmware. It does not have support for the type of comport the stock firmware sets up. MC looks for the basic open source USB to serial port that most printers have. The Da Vinci on stock firmware has a custom USB to serial port that special support must be written for. The only third party host that currently works stock is Simplify 3D and it will set you back 140 US dollars.

Can't say for sure as I have not tested it. I know Repetier firmware does not work with Cura, and it does not work with Craftware. I have tried both. I am actually changing my mainboard out to something more open source. So I can use any host I desire.

Could you let us know what main board you go with and software. I am interested in doing the same at some point

I chose the Azteeg X5 mini from Panucatt.com. I have done business with him on a previous printer and have trust in his products and designs. This one runs on Smoothieware firmware. He has other boards as well that will run on Marlin/Sprinter Firmware which is the typical standard for open source printers. You can Google it for more information. It should allow me to run most host including Cura which is my main go to and Craftware which a free version of Simplify 3D but in my opinion may be more powerful. I just chose the Smoothieware version as it seems to be the next thing in open source.
