Topic: firmware and out of filament support?

I dimly recall someone talking about adding support for pausing a print automatically when an out of filament signal is detected. I know there was support for killing the job on out of filament, but does anyone know if pause made it into the solidoodle marlin git tree?

(As long as I'm working on a modified filament guide for mounting a cable chain, I figured I'd add a place to mount a microswitch as well to notice when the filament runs out).

Re: firmware and out of filament support?

Is there something simpler like telling in software when new filament roll is installed, letting it know the weight of the filament and making it count how much filament is left by incrementing that number each time you extrude?

Can't be 100% accurate but would really help.
