Topic: Slic3r is a failure for me
I went through all the processes to get the SD2 setup in .1MM for Slic3r and printed a piece. It looked good at the start and I let it run totally through which took about 1.5 hours. The piece is 1" tall with two faces 1/8" thick at right angles. One leg is 1.5" long while the other is 1" long. On the long face is a extended capital letter R and on the other face an S. On the long face there is also a 1/4" hole with an extended reneforcement circle. These letters and reneforcement face into the right angle.
Slic3r added threads linking the two right facing surfaces, letters, etc. at a 45 degree angle. These threads were random but heavy in some places and totally ruined the piece.
I then sliced another piece that consist of a thin 1/4" thick rectangular platform 3/4" x1.5" this has two square towers that vary with insets and stand 7/8" above the platform. Slic3r aded threads to just about fill the area between the two towers.
Somehow Slic3r seems to want to join split surfaces with threads. These show up in the 3D slicer rendition on the screen and also print.
I'm using PLA for filament.
I'm looking at reverting to SkienForge but wonder about getting the settings into it as I don't see how the Solidoodle2_1MM file is imported or referenced with SKienForge. Is it and if so how do you use it?
