Topic: Improving print quality on small items
As a 3D noob I have been using the Davinci with its defualt settings but after trying to print small components with rather poor results, I started messing around with Slic3r.
This is my model:
model01 (see attached)
This is what standard unmodified xyzware makes of it:
model02, model03 (see attached)
So from my understanding the printing speed is the main problem, especially the "hook" part on the biggest component needs very slow printing.
I then started using Slic3r with the hacked version of xyzware, which allows to read the gcode directly. I have used very slow speeds for printing in Slic3r, same as suggested in this post: how-to-get-best-quality-prints-from-xyz-da-vinci-10
The result now is this:
model04 and model05 (see attached)
This is an improvement overall, even my 1mm diameter holes are now printed nicely but the "hook" part is still a mess.
So what can I do? Is there a way to define certain areas of a print to go super slow? Or do I need a cooling fan? Or should I reduce the extrusion multiplier? Can that be done for a certain area only?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
