Topic: Fusion 360

Just a heads up if any of you are looking at fusion 360. If you purchase now you get a free upgrade to ultimate for life! It looks very promising so far.

I couldn't pass it up! I do a lot of CNC work so its a nice gamble for me.

the fact that you NEED to upload your design in the cloud to open/import it in fusion 360 is a deal breaker for me...

The pros outweigh the cons for me. I don't really have any million dollar ideas I have to worry about being stolen off the cloud anyway.

the problem is not stolen idea/models from the cloud;  it's that you cant use it without an internet connection...

Every time you see the word cloud in relation to the internet, replace it with the phrase, "someone else's server that I have no control over".

I got it.  So far I'm quite happy with it.  The cloud thing doesn't bother me but I also havn't fiddled with it enough to see how well it acts offline.  I got it partially for 3D printing and partially for CNC routing/milling.  The CAD + CAM + Tsplines is worth the deal price ($300/yr) to get into the ultimate for life.  Never really worked with Blender but the simplicity and advantages over something like sketchup are tremendous.  The parametric modeling is so easily adjustable that I never have to worry about remaking a model from scratch just because the geometry was unhappy for some reason.

SD3, RUMBA, 360W power, ABS: Glass bed + Aquanet Extra Super Hold Hairspray, Anti-backlash Z spanner, Repetier Host + Slic3r
