Topic: Printing PET with XYZ Davinci

I'm about to purchase my first 3D printer and I want to use it specifically to develop a prototype made from PET. Does anyone know if the XYZ printer can be tweaked to print PET ? Ive read the requirements for printing PET are -
1. Heated build platform
2. Glass bed (optional, but great if you have one)
3. Extruder capable of 250°C

..... or is there a more suitable printer for printing PET?

thanx

Re: Printing PET with XYZ Davinci

The Da Vinci certainly ticks all those boxes but I couldn't say for sure if it will print with PET.
Maybe someone with more experience using alternative flaments will come along with a definite answer.

Re: Printing PET with XYZ Davinci

What i can tell you is that the Da Vinci has issues with clear filament. It uses an optical sensor to let you know when it is out of filament and to stop it. If the filament is too clear it will not be seen by the optical sensor and it will think it is always out of filament. So if you do try PET or any other types of filament I would suggest not wasting money on the clear stuff.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
