Topic: MatterControl - Anyone else tried it?

Stumbled across it possibly on this site.  D/L it - it's free - and am rather surprised!   The GUI is a little different from Repetier, but all the stuff is there, just gotta look for it.  This was just about plug-n-play.  I set no parameters, and it prints rather nice items.  I've done 4 prints since yesterday. one was 5 1/2 hours.
It found it's own z axis home, it also has table leveling compensation, which I haven't tried yet.  It seems to use a lot of  z axis retraction - my z axis stabilizer makes a lot of clicking.  Don't know how, but it seems to heat the table & extruder quicker than Repetier.  Has an option of using 3 different slicer programs.
I wouldn't be so enthusiastic about it, but I use an Imac, and Repetier hasn't upgraded the software this year, still on V 0.56.  I have a couple of Windows machines, but it's a hassle changing plugs and wires to change machines.  Anyone know of a 2 usb input, 1 usb output switch?  That would allow me to use either machine.

Lot of good things to  say about MatterControl.  Give it a try.

Re: MatterControl - Anyone else tried it?

The second & third long prints froze half-way thru.
I like the first layer it puts down - almost takes a hammer & chisel to get the print off the glass.  I enabled the auto-leveling feature, so I really don't know how and if that works yet.
I'll go back to Repetier for the long prints, but I'll still use this one for other stuff.
The GUI leaves a little to be desired in comparison to Repetier, but it's new....
