Topic: Help modifying a kossel extruder design and understanding Open SCAD?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get the perfect extruder setup for the mini kossel that I am building.  I have no experience in open scad, but many extruders on thingiverse are made in it so I am trying to learn it to modify any of the several available designs to suit my needs.

I am putting a thin sheet of wood on top of my mini kossel and I will mount the bowden extruder and spool on top of that, pointing directly down.  This way the bowden feed is a direct as possible with minimal bends to reduce friction.  I basically need a good way to mount the bowden tube to the extruder body.  I am considering mounting the following extruders:

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8252 (best choice to modify)
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:291592
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21406

The two basic options that I have available to me (parts in hand) to mount the down tube are:

1) Modify one of the above extruders to accept this pneaumatic fitting: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321218487974?_t … EBIDX%3AIT
This is probably the easiest option since if the hole is the right size it can just screw in.  The hole should be 9.5mm in order to print with the exact right tightness.

2)  Modify one of the above to accept the E3D V6 size head and I can use this piece I bought to make it into a bowden feed: http://www.filastruder.com/collections/ … en-adaptor
This is a little more work since you have to make it the hole the right size and position cross screw holes to hold it in place (or glue it, which I would rather not do).  Dimensions are on the E3D site.

Can anyone help me understand how to do this and explain it to me?  I am hoping it is as simple as changing a line or 2 in open scad and exporting (is exporting the right term?  I don't know how to do that either).  My understanding is that a line in the open SCAD code of one of the above extruders controls the width of the hole.  If I could find how to modify that to 9mm, I should be good to go.

Thanks in advance!

I realized the above post is overly complicated and that is probably why it got no responses over a week.  Let's make this simple- $10 bounty is ready to be sent via paypal or bitcoin to the first person who can modify this extruder to have a 9.5 mm hole in the bottom:

Thanks.

No, just about the same depth as the existing hole that is a little bigger.  Actually, if you can make it about 2mm more shallow that would probably be the best fit for my pneaumatic fitting.

It was there and my edit deleted it
I'll reduce to 9.5 but expect that to be closer to a 9mm hole.

Yup, that looks like it!  I don't know how to measure the diameter once it is an .stl file but if you say its 9.5 mm then I think it should work.  If its a little loose, I can put some super glue on the threads and if its a little tight then I just sand it.  Let's take this back over to PMs and we can coordinate shipping/ payment.  Thanks.
