If you have the stock extruder, you might not want too. Heard it clogs real easy with PLA.
This is very possible and has been covered extensively on Soliforum....but I'm currently too lazy to give a link
.
Printing PLA will be at a lower temp than when using ABS, and it is recommended to use a fan to cool each layer. Also, in my experience, PLA is more prone to clogging the hotend. I've never had an ABS clog, but had scores of PLA clogs before switching to an E3D.
EDIT: Here's a link. It's not loaded with info, but it can help you decide what is best for you.
Whats an E3D run price wise?

$80. I'm a US supplier (see signature) or if you're in the UK get them from E3D directly. (www.e3d-online.com)
$83.00 including shipping...
http://www.filastruder.com/products/all … -v6-hotend
And WELL worth it!
5% off with coupon code "reprap". ![]()
so I remove the one saying solidoodle and fit this up basically? Seems like a good route since its only $80

It's not quite that simple...check the Soliwiki on the subject:
http://www.soliwiki.com/E3D_extruder
Note that this was based on the earlier E3D...there is now no need for the Kapton tape wrap for the thermistor.
Pretty much. Minor assembly is required, then update the firmware, and you are set.
While waiting for the E3D to arrive, read http://www.soliwiki.com/E3D_extruder for a walkthrough. Bare in mind this walkthrough is for the v5, but the v6 is actually easier to assemble.
If you can print, make http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:393928 out of ABS and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:135575 out of whatever material you want. If you cannot print the extruder body, Filastruder sells them for about $5.
You can print in so many materials. BUY IT!
Ok I'm sold. It will do basically everything right?

Might as well start working on the firmware changes right now. There isn't any reason you can't get that part out of the way while you wait for your new v6 to arrive.

Many people have questions on the firmware process. In the event you do need assistance, the community will help until it arrives. You first need to figure out which board you have. SD changed from the Sanguinololu to the Printrboard late last year and the different boards require a different approach to the update process. If you look closely at your board, it will say one or the other. If purchased new in the last year, it is a Printrboard.
I'll look in the morning. I love you guys. Y'all are so helpful
