I just made the mistake to upgrade to latest FW 1.20 XYZ pushed.
When using a reset cart with an external spool the printer resets. Using a "virgin" cart is fine.
I cannot downgrade to FW 1.1.G either, the display says upgrade fail.
Maybe someone can figure out how to downgrade ?
Strongly recommend that if you do upgrade to FW 1.20 you do a bed calibrate BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE. On power up the system had its own idea where the bed was and almost split the glass when I tried my first print. Thankfully I was watching closely and managed to shut the machine off before I cracked the glass.
One good thing perhaps... seems like upgrading resets your total machine hours to 0. Almost like getting a new machine... at least from a resale perspective I guess. 
Yes, it did that too, dragged the head all over the glass until I shut it off.
XYZ has no reference about the new FW on their site. Also when trying to send them a message through their website it does not recognize either one of my two printers serial numbers.
It seems ver 1.20 renders the resetters unusable (for now) - so don't upgrade.
I think they now use a checksum method to verify the eeprom. working on a fix for it ... As soon as I get a 1.20 board (or the firmware is re-released) I'll run some tests.
Well after about 24 hours -- resetter seems to work again -- no idea what was going on there -- we'll just need to keep an eye on 1.20 when it comes out again ... (or 1.1.K or whatever it's going to be) -- Just beware that any new release will most likely try to stop the resetting of cartridges ...
Can you explain me how I can reset my firmware version ... I cannot print anymore ... my printer is doing a lot of noise and it don't load the filament. Thx for your advices.
uninstall xyzware
download the "G" version BIN file from either the voltivo forum or my repository at http://www.wctek.com/shop/content/9-downloads
place it on your desktop (you will need it in a sec)
install the original xyzware that came with your printer or get it from www.mediafire.com/download/yi0m4rtrbocpa...ry_CD_-_XYZWare_.zip
disconnect your internet connection (important).
once you start the old version of xyzware, with your printer connected and turned on, click on about, then click firmware upgrade
the software will fail saying "no internet connection or can't connect etc" once you click on the ok it will open a file selection box
navigate to your desktop and load the bin file for firmware revision "G" and let it flash the printer.
that's it -- you now run version "G" - if you want, you can now turn the internet back on and let it upgrade to version J or stay on version "G" - up to you.
This may fix your issue, but if the printer is making weird noises etc - chances are it may not be a firmware problem - it does not hurt giving this a go --

Good news for my printer... It was just the bed calibration as boxcarmib explained above. If you do upgrade to FW 1.20 you do a bed calibrate BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE. I was limite to break my bed glass ! Thx you again everyone. Greg

I'm relatively new to printing...
I just received 2kg of Octave filament and an XYZPRO resetter that I ordered. It is my first time resetting a cartridge. Set up was simple enough but when I tried to print, the file wouldn't even send to the printer. It sliced and just sat there doing nothing. I assume that this is due to the firmware upgrade (1.2.3)? I tried to downgrade but I received a "Fail" message on the printer.
Perhaps I'm missing a step? According to WCTEK the 1.2 BLOCKS the ability to downgrade. Anyone have a fix for this?
Have a look on the wctek.com/shop DOWNLOAD area -- there is a walk through and all needed files to downgrade to 1.1.J. However the resetters work fine with 1.2.3 so the upgrade must have messed up somehow -- in any case, I suggest you go back to 1.1.J using the hardware method until we know what 1.2.3 does since there are no visible quality improvements in this release (probably more tracking code or the ability of stop your printer from printing from their server if they decide and detect that you have resetted the cartridge).
I accidentally upgraded to the new 1.2.3 version trying to uninstall XYZware Open mod. I have a v2 resetter from wctek.com so I will report back if I have any printer/cartridge problems. Every other print or so I get an error about the cartridge, filament or something but resending/rebooting the printer always seeems to work.
I had manually calibrated the bed using paper prior to the upgrade, so luckily it was low enough on the first print that it did not touch the glass.
I must be missing something, I downgraded to 1.1E when I got my machine so the filament counter doesn't move. I have been using the xyz mod software and I'm getting good prints. Why is everyone updating or using reseters? Enlighten me please.

Hey Bill, I'm curious about your XYZ Open mod settings, I could not edit any of the EEPROM settings, so I'm curious what you had to do to get decent prints. I had to abandon it and go back to the stock software, which I accidentally hit upgrade while installing. I'm using a resetter to use 3rd party filament, outside the printer. The 'reset cartridge' feature in XYZ Open doesnt work for me.
I have been printing most of the day with the new version and havent noticed any drawbacks yet. Biggest changes seem to be a smoother start and stop to the bed raising/lowering and the extruder moves in a different pattern when beginning the print.
I'm getting comparable prints to earlier versions of XYZware. Still the occasional 'insert filament - press ok' type messages but nothing alarming.
Double A, I only downloaded w34's mod, If I remember correctly, there is an en.xml file to replace, and a slic3r.ini to put the main xyz folder. As I said I down graded to 1.1E firmware so that the filament counter doesn't advance. I used the xyz stock filament, prints were fine, now I using filament from ebay (white) and am very satisfied. That's why I can't understand why everyone updates beyound 1.1E.
Looks like the file got moved. All the needed files are stored on voltivo's forum in the software repository (including original xyzware that came on the CD). I'll put up a copy on my site in a sec too (just in case mediafire removes it).
Has anyone tried monitoring the network traffic to see the incoming/outgoing connections for the XYZware software?
