Topic: Speed adjustment for finer details

Is there a setting in slic3r I can't weak to slow the print down immensely just for certain parts of a print? I have an stl that has maybe a 5x5x1mm gear on the top layer that needs to come out perfectly. The thing is, the rest of the object is pretty large, so I don't want the whole print to take 24 hours.. Any suggestions?

Does slic3r separate gcode by layers like Cura does? If it does, you could slice the object twice at two different speeds then edit and swap the gcode at the layer you need slowed down.

Or if it doesn't you could slice in Cura and try the same trick. If your on a stock firmware, remember Cura will use G0 commands that must be changed to G1 commands.

The layer separation is one reason I like Cura, makes it easy to change a temperature at a specific spot and other things when you know exactly how far up on your print that chunk of code will affect.
