Topic: webcam to check your printing process while away?

Can anyone suggest me a simple webcam program which will allow me to check how my printing process is going while Im away with another PC/smartphone?

Octoprint/Octopi  set up on a rasberry pi will do this there has been some discussion on this about  $60 for hardware  software is free.

I use an  IP wireless pan/tilt camera, you can see it here http://satman49.dyndns.biz:5000/ pm me for user name and pw.It's a Loftek ip wireless cam 3200.

SD3, E3D hotend,linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

+1 for this, it has worked well and also allows control of the printer remotely (or at least, from somewhere warmer/less smelly than one's garage!)

Mainly, simply that you don't have to use teamviewer. tongue

Basically it's just a tidy, reliable, integrated version of what you suggest - you access the printer via a pretty OK web interface (which replaces RH; it's also customisable to some extent). I'd recommend reading a bit more about octoprint on the web to see if it suits your purposes / tickles your fancy!

The raspberry pi is $40 or so worth of tiny computer, which uses a lot less power and space than a full desktop machine, and you can build this into the printer. Also worth googling to understand what it is and whether you'd be keen to play with it.
