Topic: Limitations of Repetier on Linux or my system?

I run a Solidoodle 4 with minor mods and Marlin firmware.  I have no problems running the printer from my Windows 7 laptop and I use this unit to slice and generate/modify Gcode.  Typically I save the Gcode to a thumb drive and pop it into my Linux box which is a dedicated PC for the printer and nothing else.  I am running Linux Mint 17 and have tried upgrading the Repetier version to the last latest revision (1.0.3).  The computer works fine and runs the printer properly with small/medium files however I have just run into a strange issue.

I copied the part I want to print and added 12 pieces to the print bed.  Sliced up as usual (took very long 2+ hrs) and saved to the thumbdrive.  When I attempt to load this Gcode file on the Linux box it "locks up".  By locks up I still have mouse pointer control but no clicks.  If left sitting long enough eventually the OS does a memory dump (I think) and reboots.  The weird thing is that the Gcode is loaded into the editor and you can see it before it freezes.

I have tried saving this file to the linux desktop and attempted loading it many different ways but the end result is the same.  Any ideas?

No ideas I'm afraid, but I run exclusively on Fedora 20 for everything and have no problems. I do have a big box with lots of memory.

How big is your gcode file? Do you have enough memory installed to load it completely?
