Topic: Saying Hello to all from Mudgeeraba, Qld Australia
Just a quick note to say hello. My name is Andrew and my passion is making 1/72 scale models of modern (ish) warships from scratch (i.e. not airfix kits)
Hulls are made from oak and ply, covered in fiberglass. The superstructure is made from HIPS plastic, brass rod and balsa. The models are working models and are radio controlled.
It has occured to me that a CNC router will be ideal for making both small and larger pieces for my builds - much faster and neater than hand cutting.
I am just about convinced to purchace a X6-1500GT CNC router - Lawsey's post has been a great help in coming to this decision. Not sure on timing yet as I need to continue my research a bit more. I don't want the router to "replace" my real hobby. Also, I fear that learning to use CAD could be a challenge in its self....
Anyway, Hi everyone, hope to met a few of you around the forum as time goes by.
