Topic: throw me a bone

I am having lots of problems getting printer to work.  3 days ago it ran fine for half of night then started spazzing out.  I upgraded Rh to v 1.0.2 and had problems ever since.  First it will start a print then temps do nose dive and stop printing.  Other times it stops printing altogether after just barely even starting with no visible reason.  Just total stop.  And other times it will stop printing , but show in the "preview" window  a print being done in extreme speed.

ANY help would be appreciated.

Re: throw me a bone

I'd rule out the thermistor wiring playing up first - this sounds like it could be an intermittent fault in the thermistor wire.
If the printer notices a temperature reading out of the ordinary, it will abort the print. Check your log for "M999" errors.

You can try fiddling with it while the printer is cold, watch the temperature graph while you push around the thermistor cable near the hot end (if you choose to do this while hot, please use tweezers so you don't burn yourself!). If you see the temperature jump down when you wobble the wire, there's a break or loose joint somewhere. Plenty of info here and elsewhere on fixing the thermistor connection.

See how that goes, best of luck!

Re: throw me a bone

made sure of the selections  and those are correct.
also have checked the log and no errors indicated.  I will probably replace the thermistor just to be safe and hope.

Thanks for replies.

Have you tried installing the old version again to determine if its hardware or software causing the problem? Bad USB comms causes this too.

I didnt uninstall my old version and can use either for this reason and glad I did due to some differences I had to learn. also sometimes I just need to reprint something that works fine the old way. I find both versions have pros and cons plus Im old fashioned ;^P

my new ver is VO.95F for my SD2 its asking to update to 1.0.3 now

Re: throw me a bone

Maybe a stupid question, but I have to ask, in case you hadn't done this, yet: Do you have good cooling on your pcb? I was having *so* many problems with one of mine until I built a little frame to hold a normal computer 80mm fan blowing on it, almost all of the problems disappeared instantly. It was like a miracle cure.

If you already have cooling, then I have no additional advice.   big_smile

Re: throw me a bone

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.  I am still having problems after checking all mentioned.  I am just going to step away from it for a while and maybe/hopefully, something will come to me.  In meantime I am getting new thermistor and a few other parts to have on hand.

Thanks again
