Topic: Random Y Axis Skews

Check out the attached pic.  Have you guys seen cases where the Y axis will skew like this?

I had a problem with my new black cartridge where the filament had come off the spool and wound around the inside of the catridge so that it bound up.  This eventually caused the filament to stop feeding.  This then caused the Y axis range of motion to be constrained as is pulled on the filament that wouldn't unspool.

I took the cartridge apart and fixed the filament and put it back together.  Then one part and about five hours later I see this skewing in a new print.  This time it looks like the filament was pulled loose and it resumed without intervention, but it hosed my print.

I'm wondering if there's a problem with the design of the cartridges, or maybe I'm just unlucky with this one?

Did you check or adjust the belt tension?

Yes, I readjusted everything once I got the machine.  You can tell in the picture that the axis alignment is pretty good before and after the anomaly.  I think this is related to a tension issue on the filament inside the cartridge.

You might run the Z axis up and down several times and see if there's any shift in the position of the bed at that point.
