Topic: Help with print issues
Today I upgraded to repetier1.03. I got one good print and now the print head will only squirt four huge globs in each corner of the print and wont squirt any filament anywhere else.
Anyone ever seen this?

Switch to CURA engine, its much simpler.
CURA software is much simpler then repetier too. Repetier supported CURA slicer because it was good, but CURA runs its own slicer even better then repetier does.
CraftWare program is also awesome. You should try them both ![]()
I've been having grief with dialing in the Slic3r, but am on my 2nd print with Cura and am VERY pleased!
same here. slic3er gave me nothing but anger and money loss throwing away wasted filament.
Tonight's result with Cura: 1 piece came unstuck at on end (my bad, didn't prepare glass well enough), but recovered nicely. 2 pieces that made up for ALLl of the previous frustration. I like Cura's infill better, and it seems to do rounds better than Slic3r. took about half the time to print similar pieces than Slic3r. Extremely pleased!
CURA has its issues, its not perfect either.
For instance, it does not finish started perimeter, it jumps from one perimeter to another until all are finished.
With default settings you end up with dry start of what ever perimeter comes next, this is because filament gets pulled out of the nozzle while it travels to next destination.
Fix for that is to disable combing in advanced settings. This way it will retract before changing location. Problem with this solution is that it will retract so much during your print, it will drive you nuts and sometimes cause filament grind resulting it to slip.
So.
I found CraftWare. It works silimar to CURA but far more advanced and loaded with features.
Its biggest benefit is that it will start one perimeter and finish it before switching to the next.
For example if you have a pipe, you have 2 perimeters, inner and outer. Middle gets filled with what ever pattern or solid for X amount of layers depending on your shell thickness value (obviously)
Cura will not finish outer perimeter and move to the inner and then fill, it will jump back and forth from outer to inner and back until they are done, and then move to infill. This is kinda DUMB if you ask me and i always complained to them about this issue untill i got tired of it and switch to CraftWare.
CraftWare finishes one perimeter before switching to the next. It saves print time because there is no travel back and forth.
I suggest: play with CURA and get used to how parameters effect your print. Then try CraftWare.
I suggest to play with CURA for at least a roll or two of filament, that way you learn enough and wont rush your self into trouble.
