Topic: New Da Vinci Owner with an 0031 error

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to the Da Vinci world - I bought two from an auction last week, presumably returns of some sort. I figured if I bought two, I'd have one for parts, which is good cause the second one looks like it was dropped and will need some rebuilding before it functions.

The first printer however looked good - I got it all set up, and even printed out the sample keychain - then I made the mistake of hitting the Calibration option... it started running, got past heating the bed, started checking position and then gave me the 0031 Y-Sensor error. (when it did this, it was moving into the Y-home position and made a big chattering noise). I turned it off and restarted it, and it gave me the error again in the startup sequence.

So far, at XYZ's suggestion I have checked to make sure the power connector at the Y Motor is plugged in, and checked the connector at the Y Sensor and it was good too. Still got the same problem. After that I replaced the sensor with the y-sensor from my second printer - still got the same problem. Then for kicks I took off the cover over the motherboard to see if there was anything loose there. I did not spot anything loose there but did notice a connector with a discolored plug - not certain if this is normal (or burned) or what it controls. I have attached a photo of both the plug and the connector on the board - can anyone tell me what this controls?

I am toying with the idea of swapping out the board with the one from my second printer, but short of doing this does anyone have any suggestions for anything I have missed? Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeff

note that the picture of the socket is upside down, that edge with the connectors is actually the bottom of the board...

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: New Da Vinci Owner with an 0031 error

thanks to a suggestion in another thread, I solved my 0031 problem by slightly repositioning the y-sensor in its holder (thinking I might have to print a new one that does a better job)... that said, I'd still be interested to know what that plug and connector control if anyone has any insights...
